In the last week, as I have watched the McCain Campaign stoop to increasingly desperate tactics, including disenfranchisement attempts and widespread robo-calls, I’ve increasingly gotten the sense that this election is over. Polls from a multitude of sources increasingly show Obama’s already substantial lead in support by the overall populace growing larger. At the same time, the electoral math for McCain looks increasingly grim and he would need to pull off hugely unlikely combinations of states to win. Many so called swing states are now soundly in Obama’s grasp and states which have been soundly in the red are looking awfully purple. Legislative election tracking seems to suggest that Democrats will increase their slim majority in both branches of Congress. This election could be the biggest sea change in politics in my lifetime.
